FAQs

Program Info

Who can play for Grapevine Lacrosse?

GLA serves boys and girls in grades 9–12 who attend schools in Grapevine, Colleyville, HEB, and surrounding communities that do not have a high school lacrosse program.

I've never played lacrosse before. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Lacrosse is a no-cut sport at GLA, and we welcome players of all experience levels—from first-time athletes to experienced players. Our coaches are committed to helping every player develop, improve, and find a place within the program.

Season Info

When is the Girls High School Lacrosse Season?

The girls program operates year-round during both the fall and spring seasons. Fall activities typically include team training and a fall tournament, while the spring season serves as the primary competitive league high school season.

When is the Boys High School Lacrosse Season?

The boys program competes primarily during the spring season (January–May). In the fall, we offer a non-competitive Fall Ball program focused on skill development, fundamentals, and team building while supporting multi-sport athletes.

What does the Spring Season look like?

The spring season is the primary competitive season for both programs and runs from January through late April or early May. Teams participate in regular practices, games, district competition, and playoff opportunities.

When are playoffs?

If a team qualifies, playoffs take place at the end of the spring season (early May) and are conducted in a single-elimination format. Dates and locations are determined by the league and may require out-of-town travel.

Practices & Player Development

How many days per week are practices?

Practice schedules vary by season and team. Fall Ball typically consists of two practices per week, while spring teams generally practice three times per week. Specific schedules will be communicated before each season.

Do players need their own equipment?

Yes. Players are responsible for providing the required lacrosse equipment. Equipment requirements and recommendations can be found in the Resources section of the website.

Is playing time guaranteed?

At the varsity level, playing time is earned and based on what gives the team the best opportunity to succeed. Every player will be coached, developed, and given opportunities to improve.

How should players address questions about their role or playing time?

We encourage players to speak directly with their coaches regarding their role and development. Learning to seek feedback, communicate effectively, and advocate for themselves is an important part of the athletic experience.

Registration & Fees

When does registration open?

Spring registration opens November 1. Families are encouraged to register early to assist with roster planning and take advantage of available payment options.

Are payment plans available?

Yes. Families may choose a payment plan or pay in full. Details are provided during registration.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Grapevine Lacrosse offers limited financial assistance for families demonstrating need. Scholarship requests must be submitted prior to completing registration and are reviewed by the GLA board. Awards are not guaranteed and are based on available funding. Families may receive full or partial assistance or be offered a payment plan option. To request financial assistance, please complete the scholarship application by emailing info@grapevinelacrosse.org.

What is the refund policy?

A refund may be requested prior to the start of official practices; a $100 administrative fee will apply. No refunds will be issued once practices begin, except for a documented season-ending injury. Season-ending injury refunds may be reviewed by the Board and, if approved, will be prorated based on the portion of the season completed. No refunds will be issued after the season's halfway point. If the season is canceled or shortened, the Board will determine any refund or payment adjustments. No refunds will be issued if the season has passed the halfway point. All refund requests must be submitted in writing and are subject to Board approval.

Sixes Lacrosse

What is Sixes Lacrosse?

Sixes is a fast-paced version of lacrosse played with six players on the field (five runners and one goalie). The format emphasizes pace, skill development, decision-making, and player involvement.

Why does the GLA men's team field a Sixes team?

Participation in Sixes meets THSLL league requirements while providing additional development and playing opportunities for athletes.

Can a player participate in both Sixes and JV/Varsity?

Yes. Players may participate in both Sixes and traditional field lacrosse. Coaches will determine roster assignments and playing opportunities based on player development and team needs.

Communication & Volunteering

How will families receive updates?

GLA communicates through Crossbar, email, GroupMe, social media, and the website. Families should ensure their contact information remains current throughout the season.

How can I support the program?

There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, sponsorships, fundraising efforts, game-day support, and committee participation. Family involvement is essential to the success of our program.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

Please contact the appropriate coach, team representative, or GLA board member. Contact information can be found on the website.
